Confidence Hypnotherapy: This can be defined as a conscious awareness of your ability to do well, but there are two distinct types of confidence. As we look briefly at these, you may get to understand how you have been holding yourself back.

General Self-Confidence

The first is a general self-confidence. This is generally regarded as being a personality trait. This person is generally optimistic about the future and can see opportunity before others do. Negativity is not part of what they do, but they can quickly turn a problem or situation around to neutralise any potential consequence. People like this tend to be born leaders and bring out the best in others.

A generally confident person does not consider or indulge in negative judgement. They live with a purpose and have a momentum in everything they do. This judgement is one of the big restrictions that holds the rest back from becoming and achieving the best we can be.

Specific Self-Confidence

Specific self-confidence is based on previous or learned experience. People like this have no need to question their ability when doing a specific task or action. This confidence is limited to what is familiar and they are usually subject to the usual insecurities when dealing with anything outside their comfort zone. For example, they can be good at their job and be highly skilled but they may be extremely uncomfortable talking to people.

Specific self-confidence is a state of mind which can be developed and nurtured to extend into other areas of a person’s life. Occasionally, it can change into general self-confidence but only when the personality has changed accordingly.
