What are the happiest moments in your life? We all experience joyous events that leave lasting impressions. Reflecting on these moments can boost our health and sense of wellbeing – it’s no surprise that practising gratitude helps us appreciate the positives and navigate life’s challenges more effectively.
Celebrating Milestones and Achievements
Life is full of happy milestones, such as birthdays, weddings, and graduations. These events bring joy and build cherished memories. It is often the simplest moments which most enrich our lives. By focusing on these experiences, we can cultivate a more positive outlook.
Happiness can also be found in personal achievements and acts of kindness. Celebrating these moments reminds us of our capabilities and the good in the world. Reflect on your highlights and acknowledge the joy they bring.
What Does ‘Gratitude‘ Feel Like?
Gratitude is a powerful practice for elevating how we move through the world. It helps us focus on the good, even during tough times. While it may seem overly simple, take just 30 seconds now to reflect upon and appreciate one positive occasion or feeling from your past. This could be from earlier today or this week, or perhaps many years ago.
Notice how this memory ‘pops’ into mind.
Notice how your mind and body feel – more relaxed? Calmer?
If you think that’s good, read about using a Gratitude Journal below!

How to Use a Gratitude Journal
Keeping a gratitude journal is an effective method for regularly connecting with our memories as sparks of inspiration.
Each day, note down at least 3-5 things you are thankful for that day.
Do this for at least two weeks, especially if the first few days are a slog – by the end of the second week, your mind and body will start building ‘muscle memory’ for locating these ‘sparks’ you are grateful for in your life.
Over time, this practice helps shift your focus from what’s missing to what’s present. The benefits of gratitude are profound, especially for those who rarely practiced it before!

How Does Hypnosis Support Gratitude?
Hypnosis can help us to vividly relive happy memories in a constructive and focused way. By tapping into our unconscious mind, we can carry these feelings into the present and future.
We also build resilience by reinforcing feelings of hope, happiness, and contentment. Hypnotherapy is an effective way to building and ‘recoding’ the skills we need to tackle the problems in our lives head-on, whether they are specific barriers or events, or broader issues like anxiety and stress.
Finding quality hypnotherapy in Ireland can significantly improve your mental health. At the Dublin Hypnosis and Therapy Centre, we are dedicated to helping you harness the power of your existing positive memories so you can move forward and create many more.
